2003年第 5期 第 11卷 (总 33期 ) 上 海 交通 大 学 学报 (哲 学社 会 科 学版 ) JOURNAI OF SJTU (Philosophy and Social Sciences) 前所未有的民变高峰 辛亥前 十年 民变状况分析 马 自毅 (华东师范大学历史系 ，上海 200062) NO．5．2003 Vo1．1l SUM NO．3 摘 要 ：辛亥前十年是 民 变的 高发期 ，遍及全 国各省 区，其 引发原 因、表现 形式 大相径庭 ，除极 少数事件是 革命 党人 有意发动 外，绝 大多数都有浓厚 的 自发性和情 绪性 ，没有明确 的反 清 目标 ，表 现 出新 旧杂糅 、复杂 多变的特 点 。它们此起彼 伏 ，相激 相 荡，显示 出社会 的动 荡不安 与普遍 的反叛 心理 ，这是资产 阶级 力量并 不强 大的辛 亥革命能在短期 内成功 的主要 原 因之一 。但 也正 因其 复杂 多变，也 就成为革命并 未成 功 ，民初局势 乃至整个 20世 纪上 半期 动 荡不安 的重要 因素。 关键词 ：民变；新 旧杂糅 ；普遍反叛 中图分类 号 ：K256．9 文献标 识码 ：A 文章编 号 ：1008 7095(2003)05—0065—08 A Look at the UnpreCedented Large Number of Revolts On the Status QUO of Revolts in the Ten Years Before the 1 9 1 1 Revolution M A Z 一v (Department of History，East China Normal University，Shanghai 200062，China) Abstract：In the ten years before the 1 91 1 revolution，there had been revolts throughout China in different forms and for various reasons．M ost of the revolts were spontaneous and irrationa1．with no definite anti—Qing objectives．Both new and old forces were involved in these revolts，rendering the re— volts extremely complicated．The social turbulence and a prevailing mentality of revolt were m anifested in the frequent rises of the revolts and their mutual promotion，and form ed one of the maior reasons for the rapid success of the weakling capitalist forces in the 1 91 1 revolution．On the other hand，the com— plexity and levity of the revolts also led to the failure of the revolution and the turbulence in the first few years of the republic，even in the first half of the 20th century． Key words：late Qing Dynasty；revols；social turbulence；prevailing mentality of revolts 民变 ，古已有之。《东周列 国志》谓 ：“(周厉王) 暴虐无道 ，为 国人所 杀，此乃千 年 民变 之始。”此 后 ，历代历朝屡见不鲜 ，王朝末年尤盛。然而 ，辛亥 前十年民变地域之广、次数之多 ，参与者及引发 民 变的因素之复杂，前无古人 。 收 稿 日期 ：2003—04 11 作者简 介 ：马 自毅 (1952- )．女 ．华 东师范 大学 历史 系副教 授 。 一 、前所未有的民变高峰 近代中国历史上 ，19世纪 40至 70年代是民 变的高峰时期 ，此后稍有缓 和；19世纪末再次勃 发 ，20世纪初进入新的高潮。从 目前所见的档案 、 上海 交通 大 学学 报 (哲学 社会 科 学版 ) 第 11卷 资料看 ，辛亥革命前十年的民变遍及除 台湾外的 全 国各省区，计 1300余起
