With English more and more widely used in social communication, reading as one of the four basic skills of the language teaching and an aspect of communicative competence has drawn more and more attention in the English language circles. With the help of reading, students can open up their eyes to the outside world. By reading, students are able to exchange different cultures and establish the bridge to different nations. In all, English reading is a key tool to guide students to know English and help them enhance their learning capabilities. However, there are plenty of weak points in the English learning and teaching in middle school. The outcomes of the present English teaching and learning are not as good as we are expecting. We should try every means to reform the English reading teaching. Therefore, many experts focus on the research of English reading teaching. They try to analyze the reading process to find out what influences the students’ reading and put forward some effective ways to help students read English.
