Du e to its almost ubiquitous expression , GR p lays an imp ortan t r ole in many physiological and path ological p rocesses. Th ese include r egulation of homeostasis, adap tation to stress, and modulation of central nervous system. In addition, GR is a major modulator of the immune system due to its proficien t anti-inflammator y and immunosuppr essive activity; and its fu nction is important for p rop er regu lation of many physiological pr ocesses.
