However, the existing gerontology discipline ： system is basically the product of the thinking of young social science construction. Thus, it’s of great significance to actualize the foundational transformation in researching the discipline system construction of ageing society, i.e. from gerontology to ageing science with updated ideas and innovative thinking. This paper puts forward that it’s of great necessity and importance to substitute ageing science for gerontology as the general name of the discipline group construction related with ageing society research, and illustrates that the construction of ageing science discipline system with the Chinese characteristic must be based on the reality of China, and make innovation from research orientation, core propositions and the methodology of research.
