Abstract Frederic Chopin (1810-1849), one of the great masters of Romantic music in the 19th century, dedicated all his life to piano compositions. His piano works cover a variety of genres with rich content and original style. Due to the influence of wars, composers at that time usually based their works on contents of sister arts such as character, peotry, drama and painting. They added new historic connotations and social functions to the works to some extent, establishing and developing many comprehensive and flexible genres. Chopin Complete Mazurkas was created under this background. With Mazurka A, Op.7 in Chopin Complete Piano Music compiled by 扬·艾凯 尔 as its research object, this thesis will present its musical and playing traits at the perspective of genre, nationality and explanation of its music text from the pointview of a player so that Chopin fans can understand Mazurkas more directly and deeply. Mazurka A, Op.7 combines the simpleness and conciseness of Poland folk music and the elegance of Chopin. Therefore a player should firstly distinguish among Mazur, Obertas and Kujawiak to find the similarities and individualities between these three kinds of music and the primitive-style music. Secondly, the player should pay special attention to ―degree‖. Finally, the player should feel the combination of simplicity and artistry in Poland folk music while performing.
