PAGE PAGE 3 ABSTRACT ABSTRACT Dabie Mountain locates at the common boundary of Anhui, Hubei and Henan province. In the Chinese animal geography regionalization, Yaoluoping Nature Reserve is situated at the border meeting point place of the Central China area and the North China area. This area is situated at the south of the palaearctic realm Huanghuai plain subregion and the north of Oriental realm east the hill plain subregion, according to the world geography animal regionalization. Insectival species also belongs to the faunistic member. Yaoluoping Nature Reserve deserve lies on the highest peak of Dabie Mountainside range, which is deemed to be the coteau of the south-sloping and north-sloping of Dabie Mountain. So the compartmentalization of the insectival species plays an all-important role in all the faunal divisions of Dabie Mountain. From June 2006 to May 2007, some faunal and diversity investigations were given to the Yaoluoping Nature Reserve and 3026 numbers butterfly or so were collected. The conclusions below are drawn from the faunal and diversity data after comprehensive investigation and analysis. Results of the insect faunal, insect diversity and the structure of communities are showed as following. The number of butterfly in Yaoluoping Nature Reserve was counted in this paper. There were 109 species butterflies belonging to 67 generas and 10 families. These are Papilionidae 4 generas and 11 species, Pieridae 6 generas and 12 species, Lycaenidae 14 generas and 18 species, Libytheidae 1 generas and 1 species, Parnassiidae 1 generas and 1 species, Amathusiidae1 generas and 1 species, Acraeidae I generas and 1 species, Satyridae 10 generas and 18, Nymphalidae 20 generas and 33 species,Hesperiidae 9 generas and 13 species respectively. it was estimated that 21 species belonged to the palaearctic realm, make up 19.3% of our collection;40 species belonged to the Oriental realm, amounting to 37.3% of the total and other 48species were palaearctic real
