The sisters’ father joins the American Civil War, leaving their family suffering from poverty. Of the four girls, Meg, the eldest, is pretty and wishes to be a lady; Jo, is with an ambition to be an author; Beth is a delicate child of thirteen with a taste for music and Amy is a blonde beauty of twelve. The story of their domestic adventures, their attempts to increase the family income, their friendship with the neighboring Lawrence family, and their later love affairs are quite attractive. Four sisters finally grow up and live a peaceful life. From the March sisters, I find some similarities in their different approaches to mature person, such as the struggle for being financial independent, the effort for being more considerable, and the desire for getting genuine love and so on. They may not literally suffer from physical tribulation but from mental one, which all of us need to go through and achieve progress.
