CHINESE J0URNAL OF CHEM ICALPHYSICS VOLUME 26．NUM BER 4 AUGUST 27．2013 ARTICLE Improvementon ElectricalPropertiesandM agnet0resistance Induced Pd orAgAddition in Lao M n03Manganites ． 67(Cao．65Bao．35)o．33 Xiao—boYuan ，Jun—fengRen CollegeofPhysicsandElectronics，ShandongNormalUniversity,dinan250014，China (Dated：ReceivedonApril3．2013；AcceptedonMay15，2013) Electrica1properties and magnetoresistance have been studied in two series ofxAg- La0 ． 6r(Cao．65Ba0．35)0．aaMnO3andxPd—La0．67(Ca0．65Ba0．35)o．aaMnO3(abbreviatedbyxAg LCBM0 and Pd-LCBM01composites．BothPdandAgaddition induceadecreasein resistivity and an increasein temperatureatwhich theresistivity reachesitsmaximum ． Thisismainlydueto theimprovementofgrain boundariescausedby thesegregation of goodconductivemetalgrainsonthegrainboundaries／surfaces．Inaddition，bothPdand Agadditioninducealargeenhancementofroom temperaturemagnetoresistancefRTMR1． Notethat27％molarratioofAgadditioninducesalargeRTMR ofabout70％．aboutten timeslargerthanpureLCBMO whereas27％molarratioPdadditionbringsamuchlarger RTMR ofabout170％．ThelargeenhancementsofMR canbeattributedtothedecrease inresistivityofthesamplescausedbythegoodconductivemeta1．On theotherhand，the polarizationofPdatomsneartheMnionsonthegrainsurfaces／boundariesplaysaveryim— portantroleintheincreaseinM R，whichinducesalargenumberofspinclustersinPd—added samples． Keywords：Colossalmagnetoresistance，Ag—addedmanganite，Pd—addedmanganite，Room temperaturemagnetoresistance，Spincluster，PolarizationofPdatom talline La0 I．INTR0DUCT10N ． 6r(Cao．65Bao．as)o．33MNO3 (LCBMO)，and
