Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, I’m Gu Shuocong. Firstly, thanks for coming my presentation. Today, there is a theme that I want to talk about, which is relevant to the creativity. Ken Robinson said that “Creativity now is as important in education as literacy, and we should treat it with the same status, not just squander the talents of the kids.” So, “Does school kill the creativity?” My contention is “yes, most schools are killing the creativity. Maybe that is exaggerated, but at least the creativity is under restrained.” I have heard a story, there is an article called maternal love in Chinese book said that a crow died for saving young crow and the teacher lamented, “What a great mother!” However, a student didn’t agreed, he said, “The article uses it to call the crow, so how could you know that crow is the mother not the father?” The teacher was annoyed and said, “Because I said that crow is mother and what you should do is just listening and learning.” That is real story and spread fast as a classic. From the above story, it is not hard to see that people believe the standard answers which are given by teachers. It is lamentable，because in real life there are lots of answers for a question. If you are looking for the standard answer, it can limit our thought, even kill the creativity. Yes, the student is a learner, but not only a learner. They should become a solver who has creativity and the ability of executive. That’s my presentation, Thanks!
