A Lively City
I.Teaching objectives:
In order to improve students’ key competence of English subject, the teaching objectives are as follows:
= 1 \* roman i. Knowledge objectives
1. Words: hometown, attractive, fortunate, pretty, sound, tourist, bother, nuisance, rent, district, approach, harbour, gorgeous, architecture, starve, park;
2. Phrases: feel fortunate (in) doing something
3. Sentence patterns:
(1) It’s been six years since we last saw each other.
(2)This is the first time I’ve visited your hometown.
(3)This is one of the most attractive places I’ve been to.
= 2 \* roman ii. Abilities objectives
1. Students can describe the cities they live in;
2. Students are able to understand the content and structure of the passage and develop the abilities of skimming, scanning, and careful reading.
= 3 \* roman iii. Feelings and Attitudes
Students can become interested in their neighborhood and cities.
iv. Strategy Objectives
Students can master the basic reading steps and develop good learning habits of observation and imitation.
Students can develop the ability of self-study and cooperation by having the group discussions and peer work.
Students can develop their critical and independent thinking by introducing their cities.
v. Cultural Awareness
Students can know more about neighborhood and their own cities and make contribution to the development of their own cities.
II. Language focuses and anticipated difficulties:
i. Language focuses:
1. Help students to grasp the key words, phrases and sentence patterns;
2. Help students to understand, generalize and analyze the passage.
ii. Anticipated difficulty:
Enable students to introduce their cities by themselves.
III. Teaching Strategies:
i. Teaching Methods
1. Task-based Language Teaching;
2. Communicative Approach(discussion): pair work, group work;
3. Process-oriented Approach.
