Welcome to the unit and listening
The analysis of this part:
Ss will be asked to talk about some magnificent structures, including the Statue of Zeus, The Taj Mahal, the Hanging Gardens and the Potala Palace. Some of the structures have died out, yet their influence continues. At the same time, Ss will know about travel quests quiz by listening.
Teaching aims:
Ss are expected to get involved in the discussion, practice their spoken English and participate in all the designed activities.

Step one: Brainstorming
Ask Ss to talk about the title: Back to the past

Where is it?
Picture three: The Hanging Gardens
Who built it?
Why did it appear to be ‘hanging’ in the sky?
Why was it built?
Picture four: The Potala Palace
Where is it located?
When was it rebuilt?
What was it used for?
Step three: Discussion
What other ancient civilizations do you know about?
Have you ever been to a museum ? What do you think of the things there?
Do you think it is important to protect cultural heritage? Why or why not?
Do you have any suggestions on how to protect it?
