By analyzing the characteristics of our metal materials and engineering, it was considered that the excellence engineers of the metal materials and engineering must have four aspects: the solid specialized foundation and engineering practice ability, innovation and self-learning ability, team cooperation ability and humanistic spirit. According to the practice, the problems and the corresponding measures were primarily reflected. The following measures should be taken by the universities and colleges based on their own characteristics.
