Teaching arrangement Total class time for this unit: 3-4 hours Suggested arrangement: Warm-up activities: 15-20 minutes Understanding the text: 30 minutes Detailed study of the language: 30 -50minutes Grammar: 20- 30 minutes Exercises: 50-70 minutes III. Warm-up activities The reading text aims at developing study skills: solving common study problems. At this point, the students must have acquired some experience in learning English; while at the same time, they are probably troubled time and again by problems in their studies. So, the mere mention of your helping to solve their problems will arose their interest. Thus, it is advisable for you to have the students tell their own particular problems, write them on the blackboard, and then assist them in working out possible solutions. One way is to split the class into groups of three or four when all the problems have been listed, have them discuss the problems, and, referring to text, find out possible solutions to each of them. The following introductory questions are for reference: Is Learning English fun? Do you find it easy or difficult to learn English? Do you have problems in learning English? If so, what are they?
