The mutations of AT1R gene lead to the changes of AT1R function. The current study was conduct to analyze the distribution characters of single nucleotide polymorphisms A1166C of AT1R gene (SNP), and to investigate the association between AT1R gene SNP and essential hypertension and cerebral infarction in Chinese Neimenggu Hans. The research was expected to provide the basis of identification of predisposing genes and prevention and cure for cerebral infarction. Methods A case-control study of 100 cases and 90 controls was carried out with molecular epidemiological and polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). The AT1R genotype and gene frequencies were analyzed, and further analyses were conducted according with hypertensive and without hypertensive.. Independent fatalness of AT1R genotypes and alleles toward hypertension and cerebral infarction were analyzed by Logistic regression. The coordinating function between Hypertension and genetic factors in the pathogenesis of cerebral infarction was analyzed by Logistic regression. Results The 2 genotypes in site 1166 of AT1R gene were identified among 190 individuals. The 1166C allele frequency of AT1R gene was 0.12 in cases and 0.044 in contr
