In the study of the economic effects on FDI in Magnesium industry in Shanxi Province, I choose data of China to analyze, and find that FDI have played an active role in promoting regions economic development and scientific and technological level of output. It is proposed that magnesium industry in Shanxi Province seize the favorable support conditions from government, and actively explore strategic planning of overseas investment.The whole FDI strategic includes the investment timing, entry mode choice and location choice of investment, which are analyzed respectively based on different investment motives. In selecting the right time to entry the foreign market, I built a analytical framework combined real options theory and the theory of international production eclectic, by adding motivational factors, as well as the reality of demand factors. Analysis shows that the timing of market-oriented investments will be earlier than the technology-oriented and, finally, natural resource-oriented. Referring to the entry model into the host country, the market-oriented investments should be based on the new main, supplemented by cross-border mergers and acquisitions; and technology-oriented and natural resources-oriented investments should selecte acquisition mode. The choice of investment location, I classified Chinas past investment land according to different investment motivations.
