AbstractImport and export trade in stimulating economic growth plays a significant role. Although Hunan province isn’t an important import and export province, Hunan is using the historic opportunity of Rise of Central China ,to take effective measures to expand the scale of foreign trade and to promote economic growth. However, expanding the scale of international trade, it is necessary to pay attention to the real effective exchange rate of RMB appreciation on the impact of imports and exports in Hunan. Because the real effective exchange rate appreciation would lead a series of adjustments to economic life of Hunan, in particular, will lead direct changes in import and export prices, then affect the expansion of foreign trade in Hunan. Therefore, real effective exchange rate of RMB appreciation on import and export of Hunan, has important practical significance.About the title, some academic researches have been done, but look at the existing research results, there are still many shortcomings. Some of these studies not only lack of perspective, but also have a problem, a single paradigm, or qualitative or quantitative analysis only. And all the fragmented paper form, haven’t form a system research results. Therefore, this paper attempts to use a method, combination of theoretical and empirical analysis to fill gaps in the systematic study of the problem.The purchasing power parity theory and elasticity theory are the basic theory, at first the paper analysis the reasons why real effective exchange rate of RMB appreciation in recent years. Then through theoretical to analysis the appreciation of the RMB exchange rate impact on imports and exports in Hunan, specifically, RMB exchange rate will affect the trade price, trade methods, trade patterns, and the trade environment four aspects.
