Factors influencing the reaction such as reaction tmi e, reaction temperature and amounts of the reactants w ere investigated. G as chromatography was used to determ ine quantitatively the constituents of the product. The resu lts show that, adopting the onestep process and using m ixed solvent, amount of stann ic chloride added can reach 90% as much as the theoretical amount, content of tetrabutyltin in the final product is h igher than 97%, and the yield of tetrabutyltin is over 97% . Th is new process w as applied in industrial production of 500 t/a, the content of tetrabutyltin in the product w as 872% ~ 962% , and the yieldw as 858% ~ 943% .
