Name: Jane Kovacs Signature: _____________________________ Date: September 2012 Section A: School context Malkara is a vibrant, contemporary specialist school reflecting a firm, collective commitment to provide, every minute of every day, educational programs of the highest quality to engage their students and enable real learning. Malkara is a well-established school that has provided 42 years of quality special education. Eligibility for Malkara requires an assessment of moderate to profound intellectual impairment, significant developmental delay or a diagnosis of autism. In 2010, there were 89 students enrolled at Malkara across two campuses. In 2012 there are 108 students enrolled across four campuses. The inclusion of Autism Intervention Units in 2012 contributes to the student population increase. Currently, Malkara comprises 14 classes at the main site in Garran as well as two classes at each of three out-posted sites. There are 11 primary classes, three preschool classes, three
