INTERNET NEWS REPORT AND STAGE IMAGE CONSTRUCTION ——BASED IN THE STUDY OF THE REPORTS ON THE SHANGHAI EXPO FROM SINA ABSTRACT Stage image is a symbol of national strength and national spirit. It is the most important intangible assets of a sovereign state. The use of mass media is a due diligence and also a main tool in construction of Stage image. The existing researches on the Stage image, mainly lie in how to better promote the Stage image construction through the print media and news on it. However, with the popularity of internet media, print medias force in agenda setting and opinion-led has been declining. The internet media has characteristics of timely and rapid spread, relatively complete content, and borderless communication that can make feature stories on the event with long and constant attention. The internet media, with all data collection, basically confining the audiences cognition on the event, plays the role of traditional media cannot be replaced. More and more scholars and II researchers focus on the study on how to promote the Stage image construction trough internet media. This research holds the footing on the study on how the internet news media affect audience perception and evaluation of the incident, which finally affect the evaluation of the Stage image. The research will take the special reports on four key events in 2010 Shanghai Expo from Sina, Chinas first portal website, the opening ceremony, China National Museum Day, the Shanghai Declaration and the closing ceremony.
