Born in 1937, Justine is the third generation of women in the family Cleary. She lives in a new age and receives a good education. She has open and deep thoughts and has a very clear understanding of herself and society. Not only does she take love and marriage as her ultimate goal, but also does she declare to master her own life and pursue the equal and same rights as a man. Her female consciousness is complex. First of all, this paper looks back to both domestic and abroad literary reviews about The Thorn Birds, introduces the author and describes the plot of the novel briefly. Then the paper carries out specific analysis and research on the concept of feminine consciousness. Without ignoring of womens figures, female consciousness stresses on gender equality, independence and freedom. In a challenging life and society, men and women should live in a harmonious relationship with respecting each other. Next comes to the key of the whole paper---detailed studying Justines female consciousness. According to four aspects, namely her calling for independence and freedom, her eagerness for equality, her gender consciousness, and her abandoning anxiousness and accepting happiness, we can regard her as a independent, rebel, confident, brave female.
