This makes it very unlikely that any organs will be visible, making it difficult for radiologists to make a correct diagnosis. * Patients benefit from the use of the PowerPICC catheter. Fewer sticks preserves the patient’s vasculature. PICCs have a low infection rate. This is great for the patient because blood stream infections are fatal in 25% of cases. This increases the usefulness of PICCs because now one Vascular Access Device (VAD) can be used to access the patient rather than having to access the patient with an additional VAD if contrast enhanced studies are required.
