Department of Orthopaedics,Lintao County People s Hospital,Lintao 730500,China) : Abstract Objective T o analysis the result s of clinical application of the medial sural artery perforator pedicled island flap for the coverage of soft tissue defect s around the knee joint or upper two third of low er leg. Methods From M ay 2003 to January 2008,22 patients( 16 men,6 w omen)w ith soft tissue defects around the kneejoint or upper tw o third of low er leg underwent reconstruction w ith the medial sural artery perforator pedicled island flap Of them. , 8 case recipient site were located on around the knee joint region, 14 cases upper tw o third of low er leg.T hey ranged in age from 20 to 53 years( mean, 35y) . T he donor leg was ipsilateral in all cases. ResultsTw o cases sustained superficial infection postoperation and the gradual w ound healed by daily w ound dressings All the flaps had survived. completely without major complication and obtained satisfactory clinical result s, There w as no remarkable donor site morbidity.ConclusionThe medial sural
