Introduction: In the 21st century, the rapid development of new economy and international cooperation has made English a globe language. Thanks to China’s opening-up policy and entry to the WTO, there is an increasing demand for talents with both high professional and communicative skills of English?,therefore, more and more Chinese people begin to learn English. Although there are many ways of learning English, as the main way for people to learn English, English teaching is becoming increasingly important. Classroom teaching is the main body of English teaching. So effective classroom English teaching is essential to English learners.? “The English Syllabus” clearly states that:? High school English teaching is aimed at consolidating and expanding students basic knowledge; developing students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills; fostering their English communicative ability in oral and written English. Moreover, high school English teaching should emphasize particularly on cultivating students reading skills and making them obtains certain self-learning ability in order to lay good foundation for continuing to learn and using English effectively”. It also points out: The focus of high school English teaching is stimulating students’ interest in learning, developing students’ intelligence and improving their capacity of observation, attention, memory, thinking, imagination and other capacity. 1 Hence, paying special attention to the quality of English classroom teaching is of extreme importance to the whole English teaching. We know that English teaching is to foster the students’ communicative competence in English, to widen their knowledge about English through listening, speaking, reading, and writing practice, to arouse their interest in English learning and to develop their ability to think.
