ImplicationsforCollegeEnglishTeachingandLearninginKeyUniversities56AbstractSincethefirstCollegeEnglishTeachingSyllabuswascompiled,manyscholarshavesurveyedandstudiedtheEnglishlearningofnon-Englishmajorsincollegesanduniversitiesfromdifferentaspects,suchascognitivestyle,languageenvironment,learninginterests,learningmotivations,learningstrategies,learningmethodsandsoon.ThesestudieshaveplayedavitalroleinpromotingthedevelopmentofcollegeEnglishteaching.However,thestudiesonEnglishlearningofnon-Englishmajorsinkeyuniversitiesarerare.Comparedwiththestudentsinothertypesofcolleges,studentsinkeyuniversitiesaresuperiorintheoveralllevelofEnglish.Asanimportantpartofcollegestudents,theirlevelofEnglishisrelatedtothequalityofthetalentsincollegesoruniversitiesdirectly.Inaddition,itisalsoveryhelpfultoguidethestudentstocompletesubject-basedEnglishlearning,achieveeliteeducationaswellastoprovidetherelevantimplicationsandsuggestionsforteachersafterunderstandingthestatusquoofEnglishlearningofnon-EnglishmajorsinkeyuniversitiesinthepresentEnglishlanguageenvironment.Therefore,itistheoreticallyandpracticallysignificanttosurveyandstudythenon-EnglishmajorsEnglishlearninginkeyuniversitiesonthebasisofpredecessorsresearches.Consequently,theresearchmakesanempiricalinvestigationonthecurrentstatusquoofnon-Englishmajors’Englishlearninginkeyuniversitiesbyadoptingtheresearchmethodsofquestionnairesandinterviews.Itrandomlyselects220studentsand4collegeEnglishteachersfromfourkeyuniversitiesinShandongastheresearchsubjects.Theconcreteresearchcontentsareasfollows.Currentstatusquoofclassroomlearningenvironment,includingteachingmodes,teachingmaterials.Currentstatusquoofnon-Englishmajorslearningengagementandself-assessmentonclassroomlearningandCET-4/CET-6.non-Englishmajors’viewsonestablishmentofEnglishcourses,includingrelationsamongthelearningofbasicEnglish,subject-basedEnglishandspecialtyasIwellasthereformationofEnglishcurriculum.Basedonquestionsmentionedabove,thepaperisdividedintofivechapterswhichinvolveintroductio
