AbstractAsanultra-narrowbandwidthopticalfilterwithuniquecharacterofhighefficiency,FaradayAnomalousDispersionOpticalFilter(FADOF)hasbeenfocusedonbybothabroadanddomesticresearchersinrecentyears.Inthisthesis thetheoreticalandexperimentalstudiesonCs852nmFADOFweredoneonthebaseofreviewingthedomesticandabroaddevelopmentofultra-narrowbandwidthoptical filter.Inthefieldoftheoreticalstudy,theirreducibletensoralgebraandangularmomenttheorywereutilizedtotreattheFADOFsystem.Anddifferentiatedthestrongfieldfromtheweakfieldaccordingtotheeffectofthecomparisonbetweentheinteractionenergyoftheatomicmagneticmomentwiththeexternalmagneticfieldandtheinteriorcoupleenergy,andcalculatedtheCs852nmFADOFspectra.Calculationresultsindicatedthatunderthereactionofexternalmagneticfieldthepolarizationplaneofincidentlaserwouldrotateandthenoutputthroughthepolarizertoachievetheeffectoffiltering.ThetheoreticalcalculationandthecharactersofCs852nmFADOFfilteringunderthedifferentconditions, such asthebandwidth,transmission andso forth,werediscussed.Intheexperiment,theexperimentalsetupwassetaccordingtothetheoreticalcalculation.Andtheexperimentalstudiesundertheconditionofweakandstrongmagneticfieldswerecarriedoutrespectively.ThedispersionspectraoftheCs852nmFADOFunderthevariousworkingconditionsandasetof physicalmeasurementswereobtained.Thecharactersofthelinewingwerediscussedandanalyzed,andtheinfluenceofthetemperatureandmagneticfieldonFADOFwasanalyzed.Throughanalyzingthedispersionspectraandcomparingtheexperimentaldatawiththetheoreticalcalculation,itseemsthatthetheoreticalcalculationcouldreflectionthephysicalrulesofFADOF andaccordwithexperimentalresults.ThetheoreticalandexperimentalstudiesonCs 852nmFADOFsuggestthattheworkingcondition,whichisB=240G,T=330K,is theoptimalworkingcondition when themediumlength is 2.5cm.ConsideringtheapplicationbackgroundofFADOF,whichisthelasercommunication in free-space, in the last chapter of this thesis some of theapplicationspecificationsandapplicationschemesofFADOFwereanalyzed.Thatissi
