AbstractArt students are a group of students who have distinct characteristics ,and they are accompanied by spiritual and cultural needs and appear in modern society. .Some of them really love art, but majority of the students have no choice because of their poor scores at school. They think it a shortcut to pass the college entrance examinations for the art students because the scores for art students are relatively low. Regardless of the cause of what kind of art students are born, their common characteristics is that they mainly study liberal arts and the foundation of mathematics is weak, most of them don’t like math very much. Generally, art students show the low motivation in math learning, or their external motivation is significantly higher than the internal learning motivation. Therefore, I have been thinking how to improve their motivation to learn math from forcing them to study to active study. In 1987, Professor Keller, an American psychologist, creatively put forward the ARCS Motivational Designing Mode, which was named after the first letter of the four English words: Attention, Relevance ,Confidence, and Satisfaction. The process can be explained that on the basis of arousing the student’s attention, let the students build some kind of relations of what they have learned so that they can get some kind of satisfaction from the confidence which is derived from the appropriate tasks. Much attention has been paid to ARCS Mode after it was proposed, and a large amount of research has been made by the researchers to prove the effectiveness of stimulating the motivation of the studies and improving the teaching effect. But at home, the achievements of ARCS are not satisfied, especially in art students, it is almost a blank.With the further development of the new curriculum reform, using ARCS Motivational Designing Mode in art students is not only complied with the requirements of the reform of the new curriculum, but also fit with the psychologi
