临颍县实验中学王晓琼 从家庭结构方面了解中美文化差异 cluture Difference between China and American: A Comparison Study from the family structure Abstract：Studies found that Chinese and American people have shared plenty of similar family values，but disparities still exist in various forms．One of the most obvious differences lies in their family structures．Many factors contributing to this dissimilarity could be identified，such as different levels of economy，historical backgrounds and policies．However, the influence of Chinese culture and American culture is the most important reason for those differences．This paper tries to grope for cultural origins behind those external different family values between China and US．To do so，it aims to family structure between Chinese and American，and hope that this study also can be regarded as a data to give referential meaning to the further understanding between Chinese people and American people． Key words：Cultural influence family valuesfamily structure 1．Introduction Family is the basic unit of the society．And it is also the cradle of every individua．It provides us with the early education and shapes our personalities，values and believes．Of course those values，ideas and perspectives one receives in his or her early stage of life will greatly affect his or her attitude and behavior in the future．As we know that family is the miniature of the society, and therefore different family values are the reflections of distinguishing cultures in different countries．In order to better understand the differences of Chinese and American culturesit is necessary to make a comparison between Chinese and American family values． Family as a part of the social economic system, its convoluted evolution and development are not isolated but integrated into the whole development of economics and culture．So it is worthwhile for us to investigate the differences between American and Chinese families in their own cultural milieu．Many scholars believe the difference of family
