It is an autobiographical novel in a certain degree. Jane is always regarding as a classic image of self-confidence and adamancy, but after all, she is an ordinary girl, Jane is self-confident and adamant, but also full of inferiority and weak. Jane Eyre’s self-contempt originated from the weak and helpless in her childhood, and gradually developed into the inferiority of ancestry, family and appearance. However, unwilling with mediocre ambition and unyielding resistance to the surroundings promote her to overcome the inferiority mentality, and gradually grown into a mature woman with a unique personality charm. Key words：Jane Eyre; self-contempt; overcome Chapter 1 Introduction 1.1 Brief introduction to the author Charlotte Bronte (April 21, 1816 – March 31, 1855) was an English novelist, the eldest of the three Bronte sisters whose novels have become enduring classics of English literature. Charlotte Bronte was born at Thornton, in Yorkshire, England. Her mother died of cancer on 15 September 1821, leaving five daughters and a son to the care of her sister Elizabeth Barnwell. In August 1824, Charlotte and three of her sisters were sending to the Clergy Daughters School at Cowan Bridge in Lancashire. Its poor conditions, Charlotte maintained, permanently affected her health and physical development, and hastened the deaths of her two elder sisters, Maria (born 1814) and Elizabeth (born 1815), who died of tuberculosis in 1825 soon after she and Emily were removed from the school. They spent their childhood in desolate Yorkshire Mountain. 15 years old, she entered the Miss WuLes school, a few years later she became a teacher of this school. In addition, she once was a go
