Strategies to Improve Listening Comprehension in Middle School Abstract：Listening comprehension, as one of the receptive skills, is the key to good communication, it’s also a major component of effective communication. River’s research shows that listening accounted for 45% of the amount of communication. While listening comprehension is still the bottleneck for many middle school students. The new English curriculum requirements stress the importance of improving the junior middle school students’ listening ability. In order to solve this problem, the English teaching reformers begin to put priority on the training of listening skills. Through investigation and analysis, the thesis focuses on the obstacles of listening comprehension in middle school, and finds out some possible solutions to help students improve their listening comprehension ability.
