Every morning he walked in his garden and watched them. He often said,“Oh, how beautiful the birds are!” 从前那儿住着一个国王,他非常喜欢鸟。每天早晨他都到花园里散步并看它们。他经常说,“噢,多漂亮的鸟啊! 知识点详解 once 从前,常用于讲故事的开头,常用句式有:Once there lived…… Long long ago, there lived …… How beautiful the birds are! 这是由how引导的感叹句,句式结构为: How + 形容词+主语+谓语! 该句子可以变为由What 引导的意思相同的另外一个句子:What beautiful birds they are! 结构为:What + 形容词+名词+主语+谓语! But Gus, the king’s son, always tried to catch the birds. The birds were afraid of him. Every time he came the birds flew away. 但是盖兹,国王的儿子,总是想尽办法捉鸟。鸟儿们都害怕他,每次他来,鸟就飞走了。 知识点详解 But Gus, the king’s son, always tried to catch the birds. the king’s son是Gus的同位语,对Gus作说明。 tried是try 的过去式,意为:“试,尝试” 以辅音字母加“y”结尾的动词,变“y”为“i” 再加“ed” try to do …表示“尽力去做(某事)” to后面用动词原形。 The birds were afraid of him. be afraid of :害怕 be afraid of sb./sth. 害怕某人/某物 Every time he came the birds flew away. every time 表示“每次,每当…”用于引导时间状语从句。 came是come的过去式 flew是fly的过去式,是不规则的动词变化。 fly away 飞走 At last there were no birds, no flowers in the garden. And the trees were not green. The king was very sad. 最后花园里没有鸟了,也没有花了,树也不绿了,国王非常伤心。 知识点详解 At last there were no birds, no flowers in the garden. 此处的no为形容词,相当于not any 所以此句=At last there were not any birds, not any flowers in the garden. =At last there were not any birds or flowers in the garden. One day the king said to his son, “You mustn’t catch the birds. Love them or they will never come back.” 一天,国王对他的儿子说,“你千万不能再捉鸟了,要爱护它们,否则它们再也不会回来了。” 知识点详解 Love them or they will never come back. or 在此意为“否则”,是连词,用于连接两个相同的成分。 come back 回来 Gus said sorry to his father. He didn’t catch the birds any more. Then the birds came back again. 盖兹向他的父亲道歉。他再也不捉鸟了。后来鸟儿们又都回来了。 A big bird hopped on Gus’s hand. More and more birds hopped up to Gus and the king.
