The students just take notesand copy them unmeaningfully. It seemed that much knoastered little knoitted. The fact is that thetraditional teaching goes against the nature of teaching and is not suitable for the neent; moreover, it is not beneficial for us to fosterstudents to have modern spirit of cooperating. American famous educationist pointed out:its beneficial for individuals ost effective”. Since the 80s, discussion of effective language instructionhave shifted from an emphasis on teacher-centered classroom to learner-centered classroomand from transmission-oriented to participatory or constructive knoent. ……….. 1.2Purpose of the study At present, a number of major problems exists in college English learning and teaching.Traditional teaching pedagogy is still employed by English teachers. As a result, theclassroom atmosphere is depressing, students lost interest in English learning and there isno more meaningful negotiation by using target language in class. The teacher offers the same level materials and keeps thesame teaching approach for all the students, thus the phenomenon that the teachersleaching cannot meet learners needs crops up.
