Aim: By the end of the lesson, students shuld be able to
Say in English the name of home activities.
Use the present continuous freely in daily life.
Learn to be a good listener and brave to carry out a dialogue in English.
Important difficult points: the usage of the present continuous.
Teaching methods: Pair practice, group practice, listening, performance, ask-and-answer activity, guessing, game.
Teaching procedure:
Step 1. Revision.
T: Hello, everyone, we have learned some useful expressions about home activities such as cook dinner, read a book, now please take a piece of paper and write them down. Let’s have a competition to see who write more.
(After revision, the teacher collect the expressions on the blackboard to ask students to read them aloud)
Step 2. Warming-up.
T: Now, please pay attention to my body language, can you guess what am I doing now?
(Teacher try to display different movements for guessing)
Ss: You are reading a book. You are listening to music.
Step3. Listening task.
T: Now please listen to a short dialogue. After listening you should retell the short dialogue use this sentence pattern.
It’s ______ o’clock. Angela is ______ at ________
Step4. Present pictures for practice.
T: Now let’s look these interesting pictures and make a short dialogue like this:
A: What time is it?
B: It’s …
A: Where is she?
B: She is at …
A: What抯 she doing?
B: She is t…
Step 5. Promote the learning the more complicated present continuous.
T: Now please look at the screen and write “possible” or “impossible” after each statement
For example:
He is washing the dishes and taking a shower
He is sleeping and talking with his sister
He is watching TV and dreaming
T: If you think it impossible to happen please correct it.
The teacher asks students to report their answers.
Step6. Practice the conversation again.
T: Now we have learned a more complicated present continuous: use “and” to connect with two things hap
