词语的选择 Types of words There are many words to classify into different groups. In the aspect of writing, words can be categorized according to their level of specificity, concreteness, explicitness or formality. 2.1 specific VS. general words Specific words refer to particular persons, places, or events, such as Martin Luther King, the 2008 Olympic Games. General: When she was young, her family moved from one place to another. Specific When she was at the age of ten, her family moved from Xi’an to Beijing. 3. choose more accurate words. Especially when you describe or narrate something, try to find the right word for a particular circumstance. General Someone walks out of the room. A thief slips out of the room.
