Methods A total of 129 patients with PICC catheter were divided into two groups according to the catheter sequence.From July 2009 to September 2009, 64 PICC patients were taken as a control group to adopt conventional method in PICC catheter to decide the length of catheter. From October 2009 to December 2009, 65 PICC patients were taken as an observational group to receive conventional PICC catheter and then decide the length of catheter with changes of the heart rate and therhythm by ECG monitor . The incidences of cardiac catheter allotopia were compared between the two groups. Results T he incidence of the cardiac catheter allotopia of the observational group was significantly lower than that in the control group( P 0. 05) . Conclusion PICC under ECG monitor is an accurate, reliable,simple, safe, economical and effective method in preven- ting cardiac catheter allotopia and reducing nursing operational risk.
