A Comparative Study of Alcohol Culture in China and the West 中西方酒文化之比较研究 Abstract This paper is mainly about alcohol culture and presents a comparative study of alcohol culture in China and the West. Alcohol has existed for at least 5,000 years today. Alcohol culture can be seen from alcohol industry. There are various types of alcohol by sophisticated alcohol techniques. The diverse etiquettes, customs and habits of human beings have been established, which constitutes the foundation parts of alcohol culture. This paper attempts to describe alcohol culture, discuss its influence on people and reveal the differences between Chinese and Western alcohol cultures, which will certainly promote cultural communication between Chinese and westerners. This paper falls into five parts. The first part makes a short description about the alcohol culture of China and the West. The second part makes a brief introduction of the origin of alcohol culture in China and the West. The third part gives a detailed account of the differences of drinking in three aspects: drinking etiquette, drinking purpose and drinking habits. The forth part makes an analysis on difference between Chinese and Westerners from the point of view of their influence. Finally, it makes a conclusion about comparative study of alcohol culture between China and the West. Key words: alcohol; culture; comparison; China; the West 摘要本篇论文主要介绍了中西方酒文化并对其进行了比较研究。酒，至今已经有五千多年历史了。酒文化体现于酒工业，通过先进的酿酒技术生产出不同酒的类型。在不同的酒文化中，人类已经形成了不同的礼节、习俗和习惯，这是构成酒文化的基本部分。本文试图通过对中西酒文化的描述及其对人们思想影响的讨论，揭示了中西方酒文化的差异，从而达到促进中西方人们之间的文化交流的目的。本篇论文共由五部分组成：第一部分简短的描述了中西方酒文化；第二部分简单的介绍了中西方酒文化的起源；第三部分详细地分别从饮酒礼节、饮酒目的以及饮酒习惯三方面来介绍中西方饮酒方面的不同；第四部分分析酒文化对中西方人们思想观念的影响；最后一部分是对中西方酒文化的总结。关键词：酒；文化；比较；中国；西方国家 Contents Ⅰ.
