课程方案 一、课程名： WEB INTELLIGENCE 二、主讲人：周莉娜，Associate Professor in Information Systems, University of Maryland, Baltimore County 三、课时：50 四、上课时间：2009年月日至10月日Objectives and Description Given the penetration of the World Wide Web into our daily activities, the advancement and application of intelligent technologies in making sense out of enormous amount of Web information becomes increasingly important. Intelligent technologies in support of business and economic activities can ultimately enhance the competitive advantages of businesses and the effectiveness of organizations. There is a vast body of literature on Web intelligent technologies. This course aims to expose students to some emerging research issues related to intelligent technologies and involving research methodologies. The topics discussed in the research seminar sessions include, but not limited to, online deception and deception detection, group decision making, consumer behavior prediction, speech recognition error correction, and e-learning. Research design, data analysis, validity checking, and report writing will also be discussed. The goal of this research seminar is to enable students to: understand how to conduct research on Web intelligence. review research articles from a critique perspective; and write a research paper on a selected topic related to the course. Course Requirements In general, the format of the seminar course will be instructor presentations, discussions, and student presentations. To make the lectures and discussion flow smoothly, all cell phones and beepers must either be turned off or set to a silent mode. Tentative Grading Scheme The final grade is based on 100 possible total points: Class Participation 30% Research Paper 50% Assignments 20% Total 100% Scale (based on a maximum of 100%) A: 95 and above A-: 90 – 94.99 B+: 85 – 89.99 B-: 80 – 84.99 C+: 70 - 79.99 C-: 60 - 69.99 F: below 60 Class Participation: Good learning outcome can only be achiev
