southernregionsofLosLagosandLosRios.Asaresult,Chileanproductionofmilkpowdersincreased

significantlyinrecentmonths,andareexpectedtoremainhighduringtheremainderofthemarketing

year.Domesticdemandfordairyproductsremainsstrongand,despitehighprices,demandformilk

powdersisexpectedtoremainflatinMY2022andMY2023.InMY2022,Postestimatesthatwhole

milkpowderproductionwillincreaseby2.8percent,reaching73,000metrictons(MT).Importsare

expectedtodecreaseto4,000MTtocoverconsumption.PostprojectsMY2023skimmilkpowder

productiontoincreaseby5.8percentto18,000MTandimportstodecreaseby10percentto9,000MT.

Chilehasaround6,000dairyproducersand500,000dairycows.Milkproductionreached2.65billion

litersin2021(approximately60,208,000cwt).Forthepast13years,droughtlimitedpastureproduction

pushingdownmilkproduction.However,inthewinterofMY2022,rainfallwasabundant,favoring

pasture,andincreasedmilkproduction.

FromJanuary2020toJuly2022,averagefarmgatepricetrendedupwards(Figure1).Farmgateprice

showsyearlyfluctuations,decreasinginthespringmonths(September–December),whenmilksupply

ishigher.Farmgatepricesingeneralhaveincreasedsince2020duetoincreasingcompe
