ABSTRACT:ChildpovertyincreaseddramaticallyduringtheCOVID-19pandemic.In2020alone,thenumberofchildrensufferingfrompovertyintheEUincreasedby19percent,orcloseto1million.Leftunaddressed,

thiswouldnotonlyaffectindividuals’lifeprospectsandwell-beingbutalsohavelong-termeconomic

implications.Thispaperarguesthat,tolimitthispotentialscarringeffectofthepandemic,policiesshouldbe

deployedtoreducerapidlythenumberofchildrenaffectedbypovertyan
