This paper explores the application of Leiningers Theory of Culture Care Diversity and Universality in emergency nursing. Leiningers Theory of Culture Care Diversity and Universality Leiningers theory proposes that all individuals have a cultural heritage that influences their beliefs, values, and perceptions about health and illness. The concept of culture care is defined as the knowledge, values, and practices used to maintain, promote, and restore health among individuals or groups. Leininger identifies three types of care: generic care, which is care that is common to all individuals regardless of their culture; professional care, which is care provided by healthcare professionals; and folk care, which refers to care provided by individuals within their cultural groups. According to Leininger, cultural competence is the ability to understand and appreciate cultural differences. Cultural competence requires healthcare professionals to provide care that is congruent with the patients cultural values, beliefs, and practices.
