a.new words:mother, father, brother, sister, grandfather/mother... b.is this/that...? Are these/those...? Yes,it is. No,it isnt.
ability objective:
a. Ss can speak,read and write the names of family members. b.ss can ask and answer questions about family members.
Language points and difficulties:
the use of “is this/that...? Are these/those...?”sentence pattern.
how to introduce your family members to other people.
The use of key words:is/are, this/these, that/those.
Teaching methods and aids :
1)to set up a situation and then make a role play in small groups 2)Slides,cards,blackboard etc. ?
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in (5min)
1)Review what they have learned last week.Using something in hand to ask Ss to answer my questions:Whats this/that in English?What color is it? 2)Ask Ss:Have you watched a TV play series 家有儿女? Which person do you like? How many person in this family?
3)Ss may answer my questions in Chinese and then the teacher asks the last question:Do you know how to speak family members in English?
Step 2:Pre_(presentation)(20min)
1)writes the new words on the blackboard and teach Ss to read; 2)Take some sentences for example to introduce the key words;
Show a picture on the PPT and teacher regards herself as a person of this picture. Then the teacher begins to introduce her family members using the sentence pattern:This/That is my mother/father. These/Those are my parents....
writes simultaneously the focus on the blackboard when speaks the sentences;
Then explains how to use this/that these/those and takes more examples.
Step 3 While-(practice)(5min)
1)Lead Ss to do more drills that from the PPT and book; 2)question to some SsIs this your brother/friend?
3)show more pictures from PPT and complete the banks together. Step 4 Post-(production)(5min)
