Quantitative classification (CA) and ordination ( PCA ,COA) met hods were used to analyze 23 trait s of seven Gordo nia acu m inata geograp hic populations , and discriminate function analysis ( SDA) was used to test t he result s of classi fication and ordination . Seven geograp hic populations were classified into t hree climatic ecological typ es : typ e ⅠYun nan Wenshan , typ e ⅡGuangxi , and typ e ⅢShichuan . According to t he discriminate axis figures of SDA , no position point s were incorrectly classified . Through comp aring t he contribution rate of t he geoclimatic factors to each ecological typ e , sunlight had t he princip al effect on t he formation and differentiation of t he t hree climatic ecoty
