Besides, what is more important in studying language is to find out the deep mental mechanisms in using language. 2) Questions researched in linguistics a. What is language? b. How exactly do we acquire language? f. How does language change? 3) Methods in linguistic research To describe. Qualitative research: uses procedures that make use of non-numerical data, such as interviews, participant observations, diaries, case studies etc. Quantitative research: uses procedures that gather data in numerical form.
