THE Impact of the Transcendentalism on the Author Louisa and Her Work Little Women By Chen Wen December, 2013 College of Technology, Hubei Engineering University Abstract The further development of capitalism in the American asked the further liberation in both thoughts and human beings ，therefore the transcendentalism literature trend which was leaded by the Spiritual leader Ralph Emerson was created. Transcendentalists who advocate intuition and are opposite to authority place much emphasis on the value of a man and insist on individual liberation. Except the Ralph Emerson, there were anther famous represents: Thoreau, Hawthorne and Margaret Fuller。 . Little women is the work of Louisa may Alcott, who was an American female novelist in the 19th century and whose father, Bronson Alcott, was a Social theorist .He is one of the founders of the Transcendentalism club with Emerson and other transcendentalists. So there was no wonder that what Louisa had learned in her childhood was deeply influenced by such people. This thought that man’s spirit can transcend the limitation of material, emotion and the experiential world and can lead man to pursue the nature of the mind also permeated on her master work little women Little Women is a novel about March’s sisters at the background of a small town in the New England during American Civil war. It shows in the form of domestic diary and tells us the growing- up experiences of four March sisters.
