Curriculum reform on elementary education has been implemented in China formany years, in of textbook is the main focus. Different versions ofjunior English textbook have emerged ent of The NeStandard (2001) ulated by the Ministry of Education.At present, rural area is the core field to implement the ne reform. InChina, students in the countryside start English learning much later than students incity. development is greatly restrictedin the countryside. Hence, that the English textbook suits the urban students does notmean it also son Publishing Group of America. It is used any junior schools inChina since 2003, especially in Leping, Jiangxi Province. Based on the task-basedsyllabus and the theory of humanism, Go for it is piled for students to practicelanguage skills and develop municative petence.The purpose of the study is to investigate the appropriateness of Go for it in ruraljunior high schools in Leping , Jiangxi Province.

1.2Significance of the study
English textbook acts as a medium of language knoany studiesare found to evaluate the appropriateness of textbook, especially no empirical researchon the appropriateness of Go for it in Jiangxi Province from rural students’ vieay have both theoretical and practicalsignificance.This study is a useful attempt to evaluate teaching materials from itsappropriateness in rural area. Through a detailed analysis of Go for it and an investigation to rural students’ and teachers’ viee beneficial suggestions for pilers to make more scientific andrational allocation of textbook, to achieve the teaching objectives requiredin curriculum standards on the premise of considering all students(not only urbanstudents). It is also helpful in enriching the existing theory for teaching materialevaluation since the evaluation on textbook appropriateness bees a realisticdemand.Junior high school is an important transition point that connects
