Establishment of lumbar disc herniation models, which had strong relativity and comparability to human, could avail to understand and master the happening and development of the disease, related effective treatment methods, with the clinical signifi cance of reality. The article summarized animal selection, research method and model application of recent 10 years abroad, reviewed research situation and progress of animal model of lumbar disc herniation, and prospected its problems and application outlook.
