教学设计 Unit 5 Reading 王宏娟 Teaching analysis: At the beginning of the class, the teacher can lead in the topic of the unit by playing a song--the Canadian Anthem for students. After enjoying the song, the teacher let the students turn to page 34 and begin to learn the passage. The reading passage A Trip on “The True North” describes a trip across Canada by train. Students should predict the main idea of the passage according to the title and the picture on page 34. Then they are encouraged to skim for the general idea and scan for further understanding. After reading, students are required to do the exercises to see how much they have understood the reading passage. As for the exercises of the careful reading part, the teacher can let them work in pairs or in groups to find the answers cooperatively, and then check their answer with whole class. Most of the students are from the countryside and they are not good at speaking English freely, so the teacher should encourage and take measures to arouse students’ interest in class and make the lesson interesting and lively. Teaching goals: 1.To arouse students’ interest in learning about Canada. 2.To enable students to describe their trip and their trip route Teaching important points: 1.Let students read the passage and learn about the geography, population, main cities, natural beauty and natural recourses of Canada 2.Get students to learn different reading skills, such as skimming, scanning and getting detailed information. 3.Try to arouse students’ interest in English and let them learn to express the direction and location of the places.
