Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Sichuan Academy of Chinese Medicine Sciences, ChengDu 610031) Abstract: To optimize the extraction condition of volatile oil from Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Radix Angelica Sinensis and Ramulus Cinnamomi in Guanxinkang Capsule. METHODS: To obtain the volatile oil from Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Radix Angelica Sinensis and Ramulus Cinnamomi by the method of steam distillation. The optimum extraction condition was investigated by the L9(34) orthogonal design. With the yield of the volatile oil as the evaluation index, the ratio of water to herbal medicine material, the time of dip in water and the time of distillation were used as the main factors. RESULTS: The optimal conditions of extraction process of volatile oil distilled f rom Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Radix Angelica Sinensis and Ramulus Cinnamomi in Guanxinkang Capsule were as follows: the ratio of water to herbal medicine material was 8:1, the time of dip in water was 0.5 h, and the time of distillation was 7 h. CONCLUSION: The optimized conditions of extraction process is stable and feasible.
