Bus line YCYM 2 x 2 x 0.8 J - Y(ST)Y 2 x 2 x 0.8 (EIB version) Installation together with 230/400 V permitted Data transfer via 2 transposed conductors at a transfer speed of 9,600 bit/s. The bus lines can be branched as required and require no terminating resistors. The 2nd wire pair is for additional applications according to EIB guidelines (e.g. speech transmission with ARGUS Control). The bus line should comply with at least IEC 189-2 or the equivalent national regulation, if not determined differently in the following: Conductor diameter: 0.8..1.0 mm Conductor material: copper, single and multi-wire Type 1: 2 stranded pairs, stranded in pairs Type 2: 4 stranded wires, star-quad The basic unit is the EIB line The basic unit of the EIB is the line. It can contain up to 64 devices without repeater and up to 255 with repeater. Furthermore, attention should be paid to the power consumption of the devices and the power supply to be used. A line contains the following distance data: - Maximum length: 1000 m - Max. distance between 2 devices: 700 m - Max. distance between power supply and first device: 350 m The bus line can be branched as required and requires no terminating resistors. The bus line may not be installed as a ring main. Lines are connected via coupling units and this is then referred to as the EIB area. Up to 15 secondary lines can be connected to an EIB area via a line coupling unit and a main line. The coupling units metallically separate the lines and filter the telegrams so that the only telegrams transmitted into other lines are ones which have to be received there. This keeps the load to a minimum. The correct handling of coupling units is therefore very important. The EIB Tool Software creates the filter tables on the basis on the parameterisation; these are then loaded into the coupling unit.
