选修八 Unit2 Cloning Period4 Using language Teaching aims （教学目的） Knowledge aims: 1. Get students to learn some useful new words and expressions in this part 2. Get students to read the two passages. Ability aims 1. Develop students’ reading skills by extensive reading and enable them to learn how to use different reading skills to read different reading materials. 2. Enable students to tell more about clone. Emotional aims: 1. Let the Ss have a better understanding of body language in different cultures and try to avoid misunderstanding. 2. Develop students’ sense of group cooperation and teamwork. Teaching emphasis （教学重点） 1. Develop students’ reading skills by extensive reading. 2. Let students read and understand the two passages: showing our feelings and the Open handa universal sign. Teaching difficulties （教学难点） Enable students to learn to use reading strategies such as skimming, scanning, and so on. Teaching learning procedures (教学与学习过程) Learning Plan（学案） Step1. Preparing lessons self-study and exploring the problems (预习自学，探究问题) Finish the exercises about the Appositive Clauses in the last period. Step2.Finishing plan asking questions（完成学案，提出问题） Task1.Answer the following questions: 1. Do you like dinosaurs? Where have you seen them? Can you see them in our real life? Why? 2. Do you think it is possible to clone dinosaurs? If yes, do you think that’s good for human beings? Why? (Students give their own answers.) Step3.Researching cooperatively answering questions(合作探究, 解决问题) Task 2. Read the new words or the diaries carefully , and answer the questions at Page 15. scanning ( 5ms ) Read the text, then tell the following sentences are true or false. ( Students can discuss in pairs. ) Scientists are still experimenting with cloning mammals because they think it can make money. The animals that have disappeared from the earth, like dinosaurs, can be brought back to life through cloning. If we can clone any extinct animals, we should let them live in a zoo.
