Abstract In the 26th Asian Basketball Championship, Chinese men’s basketball team won the championship by nine maintained a victory result, which earned it qualification for the London Olympics. In the games, Chinese team showed the mental attitute and the total rising level of attack and defense skills and tactics, bringing a feeling of expectation to countrymen. Meanwhile，the top four teams were comprised of countries from East Asia, West Asia and Southeast Asia, which indicated that the gaps of men’s basketball athletics levels among different countries in Asia had grown smaller. The West Asia teams, as represented by Jordan and Iran had risen rapidly. Asian men’s basketball team had formed new pattern, and Asian basketball appeared a series of new developing trend. Made a comprehensive survey on the performance of Chinese men’s basketball team, a number of problems were exposed, though the attack and defense ability had made much progress. This article adopted the research methods including literature material law, video watching, mathematical statistics, and logical analysis, and it was based on the technology statistics of all matches of Chinese team and the spot game situations, analysed and researched the attack and defense ability of Chinese men’s basketball team and the new Asian men’s basketball team pattern. It showed the advantages and some problems of Chinese mens basketball team at the present stage, and analysed the developing trend of Asian basketball team pattern. It provided some suggestions to the future development of Chinese men’s basketball team, and also provided reference for the later training and matches. Some conclusion was drawn: Chinese men’s basketball players achieved outstanding level in aspects of height and weight, and had the younger age structure, which provided great potential for growth.
